What a WiFi survey looks at

Seven things that make or break WiFi.

  • Building layoutFloors, corridors and open-plan space all change how a signal travels.
  • Construction materialsBrick, concrete, glass and metal each block WiFi in their own way.
  • InterferenceNeighbouring networks and equipment compete for the same airwaves.
  • User densityFifty people in one room need more than five in a corridor.
  • Device numbersLaptops, phones, tablets, scanners and sensors all want a connection.
  • RoamingStaff should move around without calls and video freezing.
  • Access point placementThe right spot, height and settings matter more than another box on the wall.

What you get

A clear plan, not a pile of jargon.

  • Signal heatmaps

Colour-coded maps showing strong, average and weak coverage across every floor.

  • Access point plan

Exactly where each access point should go, at what height and why.

  • Interference report

What's competing for your airwaves, from neighbouring networks to equipment.

  • Capacity planning

Designed for the number of people and devices in each area, not just the floor space.

  • Cabling & power

Where new cable runs and PoE switches are needed, so the quote is complete.

  • Plain-English summary

A short report with clear recommendations and an itemised price to fix it.

How a survey works

Simple, quick and low disruption.

  1. Floor plans

Send us floor plans if you have them. If not, we'll sketch the layout on site.

  2. Survey day

Our engineer walks the building with survey equipment. Work carries on as normal.

  3. Report & design

You get heatmaps, an access point plan and a clear recommendation.

  4. Install & validate

If you go ahead, we install TP-Link Omada WiFi and check the results.

FAQs

WiFi survey questions.

Can't see your question? Ask us. A real person will answer.

How long does a WiFi survey take?

A typical office takes a few hours on site. Larger warehouses, schools and multi-floor buildings take longer. We'll give you a time estimate when we book it.

Will a survey disrupt my business?

Hardly at all. Our engineer walks the building with survey equipment, and your team can carry on working as normal.

Do I need floor plans?

They help, especially for a predictive survey, but they're not essential. We can create a simple layout on site.

Do I have to buy WiFi from you afterwards?

No. The survey report is yours to keep. Most customers ask us to install the recommended design, but there's no obligation.

Can you survey my existing WiFi?

Yes. An on-site survey of your existing network is the quickest way to find out why WiFi drops out or slows down, and whether you need new kit or just better placement and settings.
